Product Description

Imagine a world in balance. Imagine smoothness, freedom and grace. With the Glidecam 2000 Pro your camcorder seems to float, always balanced, isolated from your hands undesirable motions. Now you are free to move with your camera-panning, tilting, booming or running without any camera instability or shake. The Glidecam 2000 Pro is a lightweight, hand-held, camcorder stabilizing system which works so well that it allows you to shoot incredibly smooth and graceful shots even while going to extremes like running up and down stairs or traveling over rugged terrain. And when it comes to normal shooting, like walking or moving the camera slowly around someone, the results are equally magical.Shot after shot, move after move, the Glidecam 2000 Pro delivers beautifully smooth and professional results. So good in fact are the pictures it produces that is by far the best and most versatile camcorder stabilizer available on the market today. The Glidecam 2000 Pro's offset handle grip is attached to a free floating, precision Gimbal, which allows your hand to move up and down, and side to side, thereby isolating your hands unwanted motions from the camera. The up and down movement alleviates the bouncing, pogo type action so often associated with our competitors system, because their handle cannot move up and down. The camera platform moves back and forth, and side to side, to quickly allow you to adjust the cameras horizontal balance. By varying the amount

D. Allen Said: Good, not great. ( Dec. 31st 2008 )
I've been shooting with this Glidecam for nearly a year. I shoot with a Panasonic DVX-100a, and I do mostly wedding videos. First, the Pros: 1- Great shots when in motion. Takes out almost all bounciness from walking, moving, ascending stairs, etc. 2- I bought a Manfrotto quick release system (highly recommended), so the whole "this thing only bolts on and takes 10 minutes to unbolt" argument is mute now. 3- Easy to learn and get used to with a few hours of practice. 4- easy to set down. Unlike the Steadicam, I can set this on the ground and it will stand on its own. Now, the cons: 1- Ridiculously heavy. I'm 6'3", 180lbs, and I consider myself in very good physical condition- but with all the weight the Glidecam is hard to use for shots longer than 20-30 seconds because my hand gets shaky. Granted, I haven't tried the arm brace, but I'm not throwing more money into this contraption. 2- Very, very hard to keep balanced. I'll spend 15-20 minutes balancing all the weights just right the night before a shoot, then after a car ride to the venue everything is out of balance again- and I usually don't have time to spend rebalancing when I arrive. The Glidecam is your best friend when it's balanced, and your worst enemy when it isn't. This is my biggest reason for a 3 star rating- the balance is very difficult to get right in the first place, and it's impossible to keep balanced despite my attempts to tighten the bolts as tightly as possible. I would like to try a Steadicam for comparison- but if you're thinking of buying this rig, I highly recommend trying someone else's for a few weeks first if at all possible.
Jeremy Said: Fantastic! ( Nov. 25th 2008 )
It works just like advertised. It did take me a bit to get my camera adjusted properly, but once I did it worked like a charm
Paul Lenaker Said: balancing act ( May. 14th 2008 )
This tool helps you shoot awesome footage, however its a balancing act to get it to work up to its potential. I wish there was a guide to follow for balancing it, for instance, like use this amount of weights for this type of camera etc. all in all its a must have for the serious videographer/filmaker.Once it's balanced it shoots very smooth footage and acts like a tripod when not in motion.
Gerry B. Said: Well... ( Aug. 19th 2007 )
I bought the Glidecam hoping to raise the quality of my pro-am video work (weddings, etc). It has been a true hassle learning to use it. But, I am slowly getting the hang of it. Also with the camera and balancing weights this thing is HEAVY- I mean 12-15 pounds held carefully in one outstreched hand. You need to be a weight lifter to hold this thing without the harness (which costs $179 extra). But, the video that results is really smooth and professional looking. Due to the tricky learning curve and heft, I can only give it 2 stars. But, it is a useful contraption for someone willing to invest a few hours or more to learn to use it properly and strong enough to actually hold it steady for more than 2 minutes.
Mahmoud Mansour Hayat Said: Glidecam 2000 ( Dec. 8th 2006 )
I KNOW THIS REVIEW IS LONG, BUT IT IS HELPFUL... READ ON: I recently bought the Glidecam because i was looking for smooth footage for my films, and I made the right choice. After spending more than one whole hour just trying to balance the stabilizer, I tested it out, and when the gib doesnt rotate all by itself, the camera gets some pretty smooth footage, now here are some things you should know:" 1. I tested this stabilizer in my apartment, which with all the mess, does not have much running space, so my shots are too short to really judge to detail 2. If you have one of those small DV cameras like the panasonic NV-GS250, or basically any camera thats smaller than the one in the picture then THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU BUY THIS becasue you WILL have a rough time getting the stabilizer to work. When the camera is too light, the gib in the middle (where the handle is) rotates on its own, and since the counterweights provided are only multiples of one amount of weight (eg. so many pieces of 1/2 pound weights) then adjusting the "camera to counter-weight" ratio is difficult. 3. The stabilizer is VERY VERY sensitive, i balanced it out with the camera attached (a DVD is provided to teach you everything about stabilizing the Glidecam) and when i flipped open the camera's lcd screen the whole thing became unbalanced, and i had to balance it again, which is time consuming. 4. This stabilizer revolves 360 degrees from side to side, and rotates 360 degrees so you can stand still and have the camera get a shot of everything in the room around you instead of you rotating around. Now DO NOT PRESS THE BACK BUTTON JUST YET! It is time consuming to set up the stabilizer, but (according to the DVD provided which has many many shots taken using the stabilizer) the shots that you will take with this stabilizer are 99% perfect, your video will turn out so smooth it will appear like the camera IS ACTUALLY flying... I actually managed to shoot like 3 or 4 seconds worth of smooth footage before the camera started rotating because of the camera's light weight. I personally plan to either find a bigger and somewhat heavier camera, or buy light enough weights to add to the counter-weights till the stabilizer is prefectly balanced.... OVERALL: If you are looking for a Stabilizer for a good price, totally go for it, if you are looking for something more professional, Glidecam has many other products for more professional use. Hope this was helpful Enjoy :)
